Dr. Caryl Wesley Steiner

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Steiner received her Master's Degree in Counseling and her Doctorate in Counseling and Holistic Health. She has been in private practice for over 20 years. Previously she worked on several Government research grants through SUNYAB developing innovative therapies for various populations. She was Director of the Anti-Rape Program at Crisis Services and Senior Diagnostic Evaluator for a Federal Criminal Justice Department project. Dr. Steiner worked for several years in the private sector developing therapies for people dealing with various physical problems. 

She takes a Holistic Jungian approach to her work with individuals, couples, families, young adults and women's issues.

Dr. Steiner has extensive post-doctoral study and certificates in several areas - dream work, astrology, intuitive art and writing, energy healing and Shamanism. She has studied with former NASA physicist Barbara Brennan, the Father of Transpersonal Psychology Dr. Stanislav Grof and dynamic Shamanic teacher Alberto Villoldo. She is also a clinical Hypnotherapist.

Specialties: Dr. Steiner works from a holistic Jungian perspective - dealing with the whole person - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. Common therapy issues are all forms of depression / anxiety, anger, trauma, communication, stress, eating and sleeping disorders, addictions, bipolar conditions, control and self-esteem issues, grief, sexual issues.

Dr. Steiner also offers ongoing workshops in relationship healing, basic astrology, dream work, intuitive art and writing, energy healing, introduction to shamanism and a two-year program in Shamanic healing.

Jungian Holistic therapy is constructed to give a person deep insight into his/her entire being, understanding unconscious motivations and past events which have led to problems, physical and emotional discomfort, dissatisfaction, behavioral and attitude problems in the present. Therapy helps a person understand the importance of parts of himself that have been neglected, denied, traumatized or not seen as important in our society due to dysfunctional beliefs. The development and uncovering of inborn creativity and spirituality are examples of this.

Jungian Holistic therapy aims to give the person a sense of autonomy, self-validation, the need to create and sometimes eliminate boundaries and understanding of other sin a non-judgmental compassionate way. We need to have all points of ourselves working together harmoniously & consciously.

It is important to become productive in all areas, expanding our outlook  - and important that we recover lost and damaged parts of ourselves which may have happened through neglect, abuse, traumas, confining beliefs which limited a person's full development.

HYPNOTHERAPY: Hypnotherapy is an adjunct method, used in conjunction with regular therapy. Through hypnotherapy we can recover lost memories and events, use regression techniques to recover early childhood issues, also past life insights if desired. A chief benefit of hypnotherapy is that it allows us to access both the conscious and unconscious minds at the same time. Much of what we do and believe and what motivates us comes from the unconscious which was formed before we were old enough to be thinking conscious individuals. The goal is to make the unconscious conscious so we attain a deep understanding and revelation of our true selves, and can then make choices from this knowledge. Hypnotherapy can be used to alter destructive behavior & addictions & to relieve pain.

Intuitive Art and Writing
In this workshop we again aim to contact the unconscious and higher conscious self-finding parts of ourselves the importance of which we have not realized or kept hidden. No experience in art or writing is needed. The teacher uses methods to bypass the ego and logical thinking mind in order to reach deeply into the self and allow the expression of this self to come through in very surprising ways through art and writing, giving us a new and satisfying way of understanding and helping us to have compassion for ourselves and the stories of our lives.

Energy Healing

In this workshop we work with the non-physical body, often called the light body - the energy field around us - to diagnose and heal all manner or illness, potential illness, physical and emotional. Everything lives and is remembered in the energy field before during and after its physical manifestation. Therefore we may prevent and understand all manner of disease, potential growth, old injuries and traumas as well as talents and abilities and connections to others. We empower the person to heal that which is impeding them and activate that which is positive and growth enhancing.

DreamWorks
What are dreams? What is their purpose? Learn to understand and interpret your dreams - Techniques to expand your dreaming skills, and new exciting ways to dream to access information you are not consciously aware of.

Couples Relationship Workshop
How to create and maintain successful relationships in the new millennium. Experiential work with your partner to gain skills and understanding of this most complex of all relationships. Solve difficulties, understand different personalities, learn common pitfalls, communication skills, intimacy, how to use your strengths to achieve a re-enchantment of your relationship.

Introduction to Astrology
Learn basic techniques to interpret and understand the working of astrological charts and how this relates to your personal chart. Understand what astrology can tell you about your life path, relationships, specific areas of life, specific situations, and major life events. Learn what energies are available and when - what to pursue and what to be wary of, talents and challenges.

Shamansim
Is the most ancient way of communicating directly with the sacred and is found in all cultures. Shamans - "Technicians of the sacred, of Ecstacy" - voluntarily access specific non-ordinary states of consciousness. They journey to other dimensions and then return to bring healing and knowledge for themselves and the community.

In the Introductory Shamanic Training Workshop, participants receive an extensive overview of Shamanism and Dynamic Ecopsychology systems. The work is experiential.

The journey begins with a quiet dialogue about the many aspects of Shamanism, particularly the Shamanism of South America, and about what is meant by "Altered States of Consciousness" or non-ordinary reality, the conditions which in essence define Shamanic journeying. The meanings of the Four Directions and the Power Tools of the shaman are introduced and - as one community-participants explore and experience various techniques for entering the Shamanic state of consciousness.

Chanting and drumming, we will begin to journey into the Lower, Middle and Upper Worlds...we will learn the terrain of these landscapes and meet and converse with power and guardian spirits, and we will learn how to bring back to ordinary reality that which we have been given in these worlds for healing and personal empowerment.

The Introductory Shamanic Training Workshop will close with a Fire Ceremony of Healing and Empowerment.

All therapy and workshops are based on the premise that we heal and become our best selves when we learn how to release negative non-productive thoughts, attitudes and behaviors - and come to a life based on joy, love and a compassion for all beings - starting with ourselves.
